Bureau of Land Management

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is a U.S. governmental agency that oversees public lands and minerals, spanning over 245 million surfaces, and 700 million acres of sub-surface mineral estate. Established in 1946, BLM is entrusted with various services including land and resource management, protection of cultural and heritage resources, wildland fire management, energy development, and recreation. The headquarters of the agency is located in Grand Junction, Colorado, with multiple field offices scattered across the country.
